But there are many 2008- and 2009-era Penryn- and Wolfdale-based systems that aren't officially supported. Those processors do appear to be required, since reports say that attempting to hack an installation onto an older system with a 65nm “Merom” Core 2 Duo results in failure. It's not about late-model 45nm Core 2 Duo processors based on the “Penryn” and “Wolfdale” architectures.
